​Monday, September 28th – DAY FIVE - Class Re-organization will occur during the last instructional block of the day – a letter will come home at the end of the day indicating your child’s teacher and class placement – these placements are final until we re-organize classes again for February 1st

Tuesday, September 29th – DAY ONE - Students will begin their day in their new class 

Wednesday, September 30th – DAY TWO - Orange Shirt Day – We encourage staff and student to wear orange shirts to recognize the Indigenous children who were sent to residential school

 Thursday, October 1st – DAY THREE - School Council Elections and Meeting (6:00 p.m. – details to be sent to parents who submitted their intentions to be on School Council) - Terry Fox Run (Teacher will communicate your child’s schedule) 

Friday, October 2nd – DAY FOUR - SPIRIT DAY – Staff and Students are encouraged to wear CHPS Gear or School Colours (Red, White and Black) - Terry Fox Run (Teacher will communicate your child’s schedule)

COVID-19 DAILY ASSESSMENT TOOL: Staff and students must complete the Covid-19 assessment tool prior to coming to school each day. If staff and/or students are symptomatic, they must stay home. The assessment tool can be found at the following link - 

NEW PARKING SPACES: There are new parking spaces at the front of the school by the portables by West Park Avenue (by the outside doors to the gymnasium). At arrival and dismissal times, please avoid congregating by the cars parked there. There have been instances where parents and students have set off car alarms when leaning on vehicles. Thanks for your support with this matter. 

TERRY FOX RUN: Chris Hadfield Public School is proud to take part in this year’s 40th Anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope. Please help show your support if you are able to do so, by donating through our school cash online. You can choose denominations of either $2, $5, $10 or $20 as your donation, OR you can donate directly to the foundation at: Donations can be made between Friday September 18th and Friday October 2nd through School Cash Online. Due to Covid-19 protocols, we have had to adjust how our run will happen, but students will be participating in CHPS’ Terry Fox Run on either Thursday October 1st or Friday October 2nd (depending on what day their teacher signed up for). Your child’s teacher will send a notification as to which day your child will be participating. NOTE FROM THE OFFICE STAFF: Permission and Acknowledgement forms will be posted on School Cash Online this year. These forms are a requirement of the board. This year, the portion of going home for lunch has been removed as the expectation is that students remain on property at this time. For students not signed up for School Cash Online, letters will be sent home next week. Please call the office if you need assistance. 

PARKING LOT: The entrance coming into our school on West Park Avenue is closed from 9:00 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. This entrance will be used for bussing and Emergency vehicles only during this time. We have had to make this decision due to the numbers of vehicles speeding through this area, creating unsafe conditions. There have also been numerous occasions where people have parked in the fire safety zones preventing Emergency vehicles from accessing these locations. Visitors can access our parking lot behind the school using the Miller Park Avenue entrance during school hours. We would ask that parents/guardians please follow the directions of our staff on duty in the parking lot, before and after school. We are providing direction in the interest of student safety. We would also ask that our disabled parking spaces are not blocked. The parking lot continues be closed from 3:20 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. each day to ensure minimal traffic on school property during dismissal time. We have connected with South Simcoe Police and By-Law officers who have informed us that they will be monitoring our school neighbourhood regularly during school entry and exit times. 

Walking To School: As our school and community continues to grow, traffic congestion within our school parking lot and surrounding streets is a safety concern for our students and families. Chris Hadfield Public School is a designated walking school and we would ask that families make a concerted effort to have students walk to and from school. This would establish healthy routines for students and promote an environmentally friendly practice. Due to some parking lot construction that took place over the summer some of our bike racks were moved by the portables adjacent to Miller Park Avenue. Students are also welcome to lock their bikes temporarily on the school fence in this area. We continue to work with our partners at South Simcoe Police and the town of Bradford to ensure the safety of all of our community stakeholders. We appreciate your co-operation with this matter.

 CHPS School Yard Improvement: Many of you will notice that Phase 1 of our School Yard Improvement Plan has begun. This is only the beginning. Look forward to more enhancements and surprises as the school year progresses. Thanks to our CHPS School Council and SCDSB Facilities team for supporting us with this initiative.
