2018-2018 Proposed School Calendar: You are invited to provide input into the 2018-2019 school calendar by following this link: https://www1.scdsb.on.ca/portal/page/portal/PUBLIC/inquires/CalendarSCDSB

Parking at Front of the School: When coming to school to drop off or pick up students, outside of entry and dismissal times, please do not park in front of the school, unless you are in a parking lot. We need to keep this area clear for Emergency Vehicles and our Special Education Needs vehicles. We appreciate your support with this.

Student Population Growth: As communicated with you earlier, our student population continues to grow, and as we anticipate that this trend will continue, we may need to re-organize classes at some point in the New Year. This could mean that split grades are created and your child’s classroom teacher may change. If necessary, the staff at Chris Hadfield Public School will work together to ensure a smooth transition, and that the quality of education remains the same. We will keep you updated.

Kindergarten Registration: If you have a child who is turning 4 in 2018, or know of a child in our community, Kindergarten Registration for September 2018 begins on January 22nd. Please come into our school office and we will walk you through the process!

Safe Arrival: Our school day begins at 9:15 a.m. Please ensure that students are here on time to start the school day! We would also ask that if your child is going to be absent, that you call the school and leave a message on the Safe Arrival line!

Parking Lot: We would ask that parents/guardians please follow the directions of our staff and student safety patrollers on duty in the parking lot, before and after school. We are providing direction in the interest of student safety. We would also ask that our disabled parking spaces are not blocked. The parking lot will be closed from 3:20 p.m. – 3:40 p.m. each day to ensure minimal traffic on school property during dismissal time. This is to ensure the safety of our students. Also, when coming to the school during school hours (including break time), we would ask that you park by the office and the side of the building. Please be cautious when driving on our neighbouring streets to ensure student/pedestrian safety. South Simcoe Police and By-Law officers have informed us that they will be monitoring our school neighbourhood regularly during school entry and exit times.

Dressing for Winter: Now that the winter weather has arrived – please ensure that students come to school prepared to spend time outdoors. Proper clothing including hats, mitts/gloves, scarves, boots, snow pants, etc. are essential. On top of the recess times, our classes often spend time outdoors for daily physical activity and other inquiry based learning opportunities.
