Character Recognition Evening: We have an opportunity to recognize staff, students and volunteers for
demonstrating outstanding character within our school community. Forms are available in our school office
and we will be accepting nominations forms up until February 16th. Nominations will be sent to the
Education Centre and selected nominees will be recognized at a celebration in May at the Education Centre.
Let’s celebrate good character at CHPS!
Parking at Front of the School: When coming to school to drop off or pick up students, outside of entry and
dismissal times, please do not park in front of the school, unless you are in a parking lot. We need to keep
this area clear for Emergency Vehicles and our Special Education Needs vehicles. We appreciate your
support with this.
Kindergarten Registration: If you have a child who is turning 4 in 2018, or know of a child in our community,
Kindergarten Registration for September 2018 began on January 22nd. Please come into our school office
and we will walk you through the process!
Safe Arrival: Our school day begins at 9:15 a.m. Please ensure that students are here on time to start the
school day! We would also ask that if your child is going to be absent, that you call the school and leave a
message on the Safe Arrival line!
Parking Lot: We would ask that parents/guardians please follow the directions of our staff and student
safety patrollers on duty in the parking lot, before and after school. We are providing direction in the
interest of student safety. We would also ask that our disabled parking spaces are not blocked. The parking
lot will be closed from 3:20 p.m. – 3:40 p.m. each day to ensure minimal traffic on school property during
dismissal time. This is to ensure the safety of our students. Also, when coming to the school during school
hours (including break time), we would ask that you park by the office and the side of the building. Please
be cautious when driving on our neighbouring streets to ensure student/pedestrian safety. South Simcoe
Police and By-Law officers have informed us that they will be monitoring our school neighbourhood
regularly during school entry and exit times.
