What is Parent Council?

The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) believes that successful education requires active participation among the school, the home and the community. These relationships are promoted through consultation, collaboration and open communication, and can be strengthened through School Councils.

School councils serve as an opportunity for two-way communication and consultation between the school and the school community. School Councils are advisory bodies comprised of elected parents, community representatives, teaching and non-teaching employees, students and the school principal. Through the active participation of parents, School Councils work to improve student achievement and enhance the accountability of the education system to parents.

Why join us on Parent Council?
Involvement in school council is a meaningful, hands-on way to have a direct, positive impact on your child's educational experience. Research shows that when parents are involved in their child's education, the level of student achievement increases.

Meetings
Our meetings are open for all Chris Hadfield Public School parents to attend. This is an opportunity to understand how School Council supports our school through a variety of activities and get involved in making a difference. Meetings are generally held on the first Monday of the month at 6pm in our Multipurpose Room. Please see our school calendar for dates.
